Hi Max Toy Fans !
Phew … ! I painted a mix of micro runs of our most popular figures, a few factory paints and of course one of a kind painted figures for Dcon.
I’m packed and ready to drive down to Dcon ! Excited to be setting up there at Table TE17 πŸ˜‰ Come say Hello to Max and Myself !
As many of you may know, I have not set up at the USA show in over 9 years !
Anyways, I’m bring all the above plus a ton of smaller one offs and some Max Toy stock. A good time to see the stuff up close and of course buy ;-P
Also have stuff from Jay222, Javier Jimenez and Doug Hardy. Doug will also be the booth both days, and selling his brand new resin, Witch Cat Lulu ! Very cute hand cast and painted figure so check her out !
By the way, everything is first come, first served .. but on the Tiger Boss / Office cats it’s one of each type per person, per order.
I will have a test shot of our newest figure, Sofubi-man on display as well !! My tribute to the men & women who cast these figures in Japan. This figure will release very soon, so stay tuned for more details.
Also, excited to be finally revealing publicly at Dcon, my Japanese toy collection / art show at the Japanese American National Museum in Sept 2018 !!

I’ve worked on this for over 2 years now and we are coming down to the final months before the opening. Much more info as we get closer and some cool stuff planned so stay tuned !

Max Toy Table TE17 Dcon Exclusives Part 1

Hi Folks ! Here’s the first round of Dcon ( http://www.designercon.com/ ) exclusives we’ll have at our Max Toy Company table TE17 ( end aisle ).

Also look for special micro runs and one offs from Jay222, Javier Jimenez, Doug Hardy, Michael Devera and Todd Robertson !!

Plus we’ll bring some stock items ( figures, pins, keychains ) as well. I will be at the booth pretty much all day Saturday & Sunday (minus some walking around time) so look forward to seeing you all ! As you know, I rarely attend USA shows and haven’t had a booth/table in the US in 8-9 years ? ;-P

All items are first come, first served and one item per person, please.

Max Toy Updates

Sorry for the lack of updates, been busy painting toys for next weeks Dcon ( http://www.designercon.com/ ) I’ll post up what I’m bring down next week plus send out a Max Toy email .. but you can see some of it via my Instagram – @maxtoycoΒ  !!

Max Toy x Tsuburaya Pro Ultra Kaiju series

Making their debut at the upcoming Superfest show in Tokyo, Japan is our new Kaiju Soko ( Kaiju Warehouse ) sofubi series. The warehouse refers to the old place that Tsuburaya Pro use to house all their Kaiju and Hero suits. Figures sculpted by Pico Pico, with Production by Yo-san !

Let side is Sadlar from Ultraman Jack ( Japan sales only ), while the right side is Taisho from Ultraman Leo ( sales in the USA soon ). Both figures will debut at Superfest.

We will be selling Kaiju Taisho in the USA, very soon … so stay tuned !

Had the honor to paint the header car art as well for this series. I’ll post a more indepth step by step images for this painting in the next few days. I had a bit of a time crunch and each step had to be approved along the way … but was happy with the finished result πŸ˜‰

Mark Nagata / Max Toy x Marusan TV

Had the pleasure and honor to be interviewed by Marusan President Eiji Kaminaga for his Marusan TV channel while in Tokyo a few days ago. Actually it feels like a week ago with my jet lag ;-P

It’s alway cool ( to me ) to hear history about the vintage Japanese toys I collect. Once the cameras stopped I kept asking more questions too !

Kaminaga-san was kind enough to give me a copy of his book about the history of Marusan toys. It’s all in Japanese, which I can not read ;-( I told him to do a version in English, haha … but he said it might be possible in the future.

To be honest, this mug, is like the best thing I got on this trip (!) It’s like being on the Kaiju Tonight Show !!

During this interview, I revealed something I’ve worked on for about two years now .. what is it ? You have to watch to find out !

Max Toy x Dynamic Pro ! Fully licensed for Japan & the USA ( yay !) Details soon so look for more info to be posted. Production and Project Coordination Yo Miyamoto and Figure is sculpted by Makino-san once again to perfection !
Max Toy x Tsuburaya ! Yes, another tease for another special project .. again, fully licensed and “some” of them will be available to sell in the USA. It’s a long story, but at least I will be able to sell a few in the US… Once again, details very soon. πŸ˜‰

I use thin paints to let the glow show thru, but as you see it still looks good in the daylight ( I think ) haha …!
And, speaking of STGCC in about a week I will be a guest and bringing lots of goodies and have a bunch of wonderful collabs to show ! Fingers crossed that we also have two new vinyl “heads” to sell and show .. but more on that next week !
